The feet, perhaps, is the most worn out part of the body. We use our feet to walk to distances. We use them to run races, or jog our way to health. We use them to run towards loved ones, or away from enemies. Without them, going through the activities of daily living could be way too hard.

All of these makes one appreciate the strength of those who can not use their feet. They will have to go to places by other means, and with the help of other people. This is a good time, as any other, to be thankful that you can still wear and use various foot apparel such as slippers, sandals, shoes, and toggi boots.

A boot is a specific type of footwear. Typically, they cover the foot and the ankle and extend to the leg. Some boots even reach as high as the knee. They also typically have that very distinguishable heel even if the entire sole was made from one piece of material only.

In connection, the kind of boot worn by those who are fond of horses and other similar animals are generally known as riding boots. These typically can reach up to the knee of the wearer. They are typically made from the toughest leather due to the extreme activities that this footwear is being used in. They are also known for having one whole sole, as compared with other shoes where the heel and the rest are separate.

Under the rider category, jodphurs are absolutely popular. The typical appearance of this kind of riding boot is the rounded toe. It is fastened in place with a wraparound strap that locks into a buckle. Aside from the jodphur, other rider types can be zipped up, laced tight, or a combination of both.

Cowboy boots seem to be the colorful counterparts of those used by serious equestrians. They are only slightly shorter, too, and most often does not reach the knee. They come in different materials, colors and designs. They can be quite hard to mix and match to any ensemble, and that only adds to its unique characteristic.

Wellington types were named so because they were popularized by the first Duke of Wellington. Today, they are more commonly known as rubber boots. These types are staple ensemble for hunting and any outdoor activity. They first came in black and other dull colors, but more colorful ones are available at the present. They can even bear varied designs, including cartoon characters for children to use.

Sailing boots are special ones that are made to lessen slipping accidents that are usually incurred by sailors. These special footwear have tight grips that allow for more resistance to slip ups. The body is also made of waterproof material just as the rest of the standard ensemble of a sailor.

A mule is a type of footwear that encloses the toes yet leaves the ankles uncovered. Most define mules as half shoes because they look as if they are unfinished. They were considered as for use only by prostitutes during the early twentieth century. It was not until a well known actress started wearing them that mules were able break out of bad reputation.
